Importing Footage
You can import a single Image, Sequence of Images or Movie Clips. You can Import Footage from File>Import Footage, which will open a Import Footage Dialogue box.
When you import a Footage, a layer is created in the Composite which has the same name as that of the imported footage.
The Layer contains one operator, that is the footage operator.
Top of the dialog Box shows the path from where you are Importing the Footage. When you select the ‘Collapse’ button, it will open a Dialog Box. The dialog box lets you type the footage name. Selecting ‘Search Sub-Folder’ option will result in search for the subfolder of he selected footage.
When you select ‘Only Show Files’ Option, it will activate two rollouts namely, Newer than and Hours. Newer than rollout has one more option, that is older man. The hours rollout has more options such as Months, Years and Days. You can type the number in the Field Box. For Example, If you select options like Older than, 2 and Months respectively, as started earlier, it will display files which are older than 2 months.
When you select one more option ‘Only show files’, it will activate two rollouts namely, ‘Larger than and ‘MBytes’. ‘Larger than’ has one more option that is ‘Smaller than’. ‘MBytes’ has more options like Bytes, KBytes and Gbytes. Select the options according to your requirement, Type a number in the field box to define the file size. Click OK to search the file.
When you select the Thumbnail Button, you can preview the Still Image, sequence of images or a movie file. When you select the ‘List View’ button, you can view the details about the footage such as Name, Size, Date and Type.
You can select more than one footages. When you select a footage, you got basic Information such as file type, Width & Height. It will also show whether the selected file is a single Image, sequence of images or movie file.
Combustion creates a cache of thumbnail image to Speed up using the ‘Import Footage’ dialog box. When you select a footage, and click on a ‘Options’ button it will open a dialog box ‘Browser Options’. The options from ‘Browser Options’ let you control the size of Thumbnail, the longevity of cache files and so on.
The Important feature of ‘Import Footage’ Dialog box is that you can preview the video file. If you select a Video clip and drag it from left to right, you will be able to pan fotward and backward though the file in a thumbnail view.
‘Format’ button displays a list of different file Types such as JPEG, GIF, IFF, Targa, Quick Time and so on.
Step by Step Instructions of Images as layer
- File>New, select Composite
- To Import Footage, Select File>Import Footage.
- Browse the Courseware folder>Session 1>Sequence of Images
